What procedures can I combine with a breast lift?

Depending on what you aim to accomplish by undergoing breast surgery, a breast lift may be all you need in order to meet those goals and look and feel more youthful and attractive. If, however, you wish to reduce the size of your breasts at the same time, a breast reduction surgery can be done at the same time. If you would like your breasts to be larger and lifted, breast augmentation surgery or a breast lift is usually recommended. These procedures can be done at the same time.

Can I still breastfeed after a breast lift?

Yes. The vast majority of patients who undergo a breast lift will be able to breastfeed perfectly fine after they have healed from the surgery, just as they had been able to prior to surgery. When board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Admire performs the breast lift procedure, he is very careful not to sever the milk ducts, which he leaves intact and attached.

How long should I wait after childbirth before having a breast lift?

Generally speaking, it is best to wait for three to six months after you have finished breastfeeding before undergoing a breast lift. If you plan to have more children in the near future, you may also want to postpone the procedure as future pregnancies will again affect the position and sagginess of the breasts.

What is the main difference between a breast lift and breast augmentation?

A breast lift repositions and reshapes the breasts to create a more youthful appearance, while breast augmentation increases breast size using implants or fat transfer. Some patients choose to combine both procedures for enhanced results.

How long do the results of a breast lift last?

The results of a breast lift can last many years, but factors such as aging, gravity, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy can affect longevity. Maintaining a stable weight and wearing supportive bras can help prolong results.

Will a breast lift reduce my cup size?

A breast lift does not significantly change the size of your breasts, but it can make them appear slightly smaller by removing excess skin and reshaping the tissue. If you want to maintain or increase volume, you may consider combining it with breast augmentation.

Can a breast lift improve cleavage without implants?

A breast lift reshapes and elevates breast tissue, which can enhance cleavage by positioning the breasts higher on the chest. However, if additional volume is desired, combining a lift with implants or fat transfer may be recommended.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples after a breast lift?

Temporary changes in nipple sensation are common due to swelling and nerve adjustment, but most patients regain normal sensation within a few months. Permanent loss of sensation is rare but can occur, especially with more extensive lifts.

Can I get a breast lift if I plan to have children in the future?

Yes, but future pregnancies and breastfeeding can impact your results by stretching the skin and tissue. If you're planning to have children soon, you may want to wait until after pregnancy to achieve longer-lasting results.

How does a breast lift affect stretch marks?

A breast lift can improve the appearance of stretch marks, especially those located on the lower portion of the breasts, by removing excess skin. However, it does not eliminate all stretch marks, and their visibility may depend on skin quality and elasticity.
