Diet and exercise are a great way to enjoy a slim, healthy body, but the frustrating truth is that sometimes stubborn pockets of fat or extra skin simply don’t respond to even the most consistently healthy lifestyle choices. If you’ve been feeling irritated with a midsection that just won’t behave the way you want it to, a tummy tuck in Scottsdale might be perfect for you.
Abdominoplasty in Scottsdale
Abdominoplasty, often called a “tummy tuck,” is a popular procedure used to flatten and shape the abdomen by removing excess fat and skin, while also tightening the muscles and tissues. At AdmireMD® Plastic Surgery + Skin Clinic, we’ve been performing tummy tucks with impressive results for many years, and are excited to learn how we can help you enjoy the body you know you deserve.
What Exactly Is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck in Scottsdale with Dr. Admire targets sagging, loose skin and separated muscles, going from the upper pubic area to just above the belly button. In most cases, an abdominoplasty is used to tighten the abdominal skin and underlying tissues after a life event like pregnancy and childbirth, or significant weight loss that’s resulted in stretched, loosened skin.
During your abdominoplasty procedure, Anthony A. Admire will remove excess fat and skin across your abdomen, while also working to restore weakened or separated abdominal muscles, resulting in a flatter, smoother, more contoured abdominal area, and a slimmer, more contoured waistline as well.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck in Scottsdale?
You’re likely to be a great candidate for abdominoplasty if you’re in the Scottsdale area, and are feeling frustrated by a midsection that just isn’t responding to diet and exercise. This procedure can also benefit older, slightly obese people whose skin has lost some of its elasticity. We’ll talk you through your options during your consultation, but you’re likely to be a great candidate if you’re:
- In good physical condition
- Have stretched skin after pregnancy
- Not planning to have more children
- Having lost significant weight
- Have pockets of fat aren’t responding to diet and exercise
What Are the Benefits of a Tummy Tuck?
The localized weight gain of pregnancy can stretch the skin and underlying support tissues of the lower abdomen to an extent that prevents them from returning to their former state. This can also separate the stomach muscles in your abdominal core, making it incredibly difficult to tighten the area. The tummy tuck can help return your stomach and abdomen to its tighter, more contoured state, a process that also helps to restore self-confidence, as well.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
Your abdominoplasty in Scottsdale will leave you with a flatter, more toned abdominal area that better fits the natural contours of your body. This can improve your appearance and confidence by helping you look and feel slimmer and more youthful, with results that are immediately visible, and will continue to improve over time, especially with a balanced diet and regular exercise. Scarring will fade with time, leaving you with a sleeker, more defined stomach.

An abdominoplasty procedure in Scottsdale usually takes between two to five hours, and is performed under general anesthesia. This procedure can be performed on an in-patient or outpatient basis, depending on the complexity of your surgery and Anthony A. Admire’s recommendation.
Anthony A. Admire makes two incisions: one from hip bone to hip bone, close to the pubic area, and another around the navel. These separate the skin from your abdominal muscles, which will then be pulled together and stitched into place for a firmer abdomen and narrower waistline. The skin is then stretched down and over these newly-tightened muscles, any excess skin is removed, and the navel is reattached in a natural position.

Tummy Tuck FAQ
When can I return to work after my tummy tuck?
Most patients need about a full month before they can return to work. While this might sound like a lot at first, it’s important to remember that the surgery is fairly extensive, and it’s important to avoid rushing the healing process.
Are there side effects involved with a tummy tuck?
Abdominoplasty is major surgery, so it involves all of the risks associated with any surgery: reaction to anesthesia, excessive bleeding, infection, poor wound healing, and the like. These are very rare, however, and are made even more rare by Anthony A. Admire’s extensive experience.
This surgery does create the longest incision in cosmetic surgery, stretching from hip bone to hip bone for the main incision, with a secondary incision in or near the belly button. Fortunately, this area isn’t overly-sensitive and heals quite efficiently.
The main risk with this procedure involves uneven skin due to the lower incision not healing properly. Thanks to Anthony A. Admire’s extensive experience and board-certified training, these risks are very low.
Is my tummy tuck covered by insurance?
Abdominoplasty is usually deemed to be a cosmetic procedure, and usually isn’t covered by insurance.
Do you offer a mini tummy tuck?
We do! A partial abdominoplasty, or “mini tummy tuck,” is similar to the regular procedure, except it involves a shorter incision and the skin is only lifted to the navel, which doesn’t have to be moved. This is ideal for patients who are only looking for minor improvements. You can talk over the differences between these procedures, as well as weigh their benefits and risks with Anthony A. Admire during your consultation, and he’ll help you decide which procedure is best for you.
